AC Energy Proposal : Solar Power Generator at Laguna Lake
AC Energy, a power generation company under the umbrella of Ayala Corporation, a major Philippine conglomerate, said that it should give power generator companies the right to use Lake Laguna on the outskirts of Metro Manila and proceed with the installation of floating solar power generator facilities. Manila Standard reported on the 25th. Eric Francia, president and CEO, explained that the solar power generation equipment installed on the water has a short construction period and can solve the domestic power shortage in the short and medium term. The Laguna Lake Development Agency (LLDA), a subsidiary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, said it would be desirable to approve the project as soon as possible. Laguna Lake covers an area of about 90,000 hectares. Since there is an industrial park in the vicinity, there is a large demand for electricity, and there is a high possibility that commercialization can be expected. AC Energy pointed out that Lake Laguna is capable of producing 1,000 kilowatts of solar power per hectare. If a solar power generation facility is installed using 5 to 25% of the total power, it can theoretically supply 5 to 25 million kilowatts of electricity.
