PH rises to 48th spot in the IMD World Talent Ranking
Announced on November 12, the Philippines ranked 48th among 63 countries in the 2020 talent ranking World Competitiveness Centre. Ranked 55th in 2018 and 49th in 2019, the Philippines rising for the second consecutive year. This report measures talent in economies based on three factors. Investment & Development factor measures the resources earmarked to cultivate a homegrown workforce;
the Appeal factor evaluates the extent to which an economy attracts foreign and retains local talent; the Readiness factor measures the quality of the skills and competencies that are available in a country’s talent pool.
In particular, foreign and retains local talent ranked 31st, and skills and competency qualities of human resources rose to 33rd. By category, the growth rate of the working population was 3rd, the percentage of scientific committee owners was 11th. In the Philippines, the IT-BPO (business process outsourcing) industry has been developing recently, and it is necessary to increase the supply of advanced human resources such as ICT (Information and Communication Technology).
