ICTSI Strengthens Operations at Cavite Port Facility
International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), a major port operator in the Philippines, announced on 23rd that it is strengthening operations at its cargo terminal in Tanza, Cavite. The company aims to facilitate the domestic supply chain in view of the partial closure of Roxas Boulevard, the land transportation route connecting Manila Port to Southern Luzon, for repair work.
According to Senior Vice President Christian Gonzales, new container handling equipment and barges have been installed at the Cavite Gateway Terminal (CGT) to enhance cargo handling operations at the container yard and wharf.
The CGT is the country’s first terminal dedicated to container barging, with a current annual handling capacity of 115,000 TEUs (twenty-foot container equivalent). By facilitating the acceptance of sea cargo from the Port of Manila to the CGT, it will add an option other than land transportation to the transportation from Manila to the southern Tagalog A (Calabarzon) region.
